There are thousands upon thousands of affiliate marketing programs to choose from, all of them saying they’re the best around. According to these programs, affiliate marketers need to use the links and banners they provide to see a decent passive income. Sure, it can happen; but that’s typically with the larger sites that see a plethora of web traffic already.
The majority of affiliate marketing programs provide you with an array of banners that you can use on your website. However, it should be noted that these tend to be ineffective. Why? It’s due to their size. An extremely large banner will take some time to implement and use, which is why you should use a banner that’s less than 15kb in size.
When choosing advertising graphics, use your website’s theme. While you want something that catches your visitors’ attention, you don’t want it to overpower the site where everything else pales in comparison.
Many companies provide their affiliates with the opportunity of using pop up ads. These ads are seen as annoying and intrusive. Most website visitors will close them before the ads can fully load. Also, many users have pop up blockers installed on the web browser, which means your ads may never appear in the first place. Pop-ups are not the way to get views and business.
Pop-unders, on the other hand, are useful and will show up just one during the visit.
Text link ads are regarded as the most successful advertising medium. Why? They don’t take up a lot of space, don’t use a lot of bandwidth and can be easily added to virtually all page layouts. Good text links provide information to your visitors that often encourages them to learn more.
This is a direct approach to advertising, which has only grown in popularity in the last few years. Of course, with the good came the bad in the form of spam. If you’re going to use email marketing as a method for advertising, you should have faith in the product you’re marketing for, and be ready to answer any questions or comments.
It’s important to remember that no matter what kind of advertising you do, it all takes time to work like you want. Before you decide on a particular advertising method (or two), consider what it is you’re trying to attain (besides sales). While success can happen, it’s not going to be overnight.
